    The Fabulous Fall Reading Challenge

Goldengrove The season has officially changed from summer to fall. We are but a few weeks away from the International Festival of Authors. Longlists have been announced. Authors are touring. All of this means that it's time for The Fabulous Fall Reading Challenge.

The rules are easy: read any or all of the books listed below. Then blog about them, talk about them in our Facebook group, Tweet about them on Twitter, write a post on Library Thing or Good Reads, tell the world in the Indigo Community, and then send me (deanna [dot] mcfadden [at] HarperCollins [dot] com) the links along with a note that says, "Here's my entry for The Fabulous Fall Reading Challenge."

OR, you can post your link with your explanation in the comments here.

    Here are the titles:

The Sealed Letter by Emma Donoghue
    Home
    by Marilynne Robinson
Hurry Down Sunshine by Michael Greenberg (listen to the Prosecast too!)
    Ritual by Mo Hayder
    Goldengrove by Francine Prose
    Anathem by Neal Stephenson
The Given Day by Dennis Lehane
    Serena by Ron Rash
    Azincourt by Bernard Cornwell
Bones of the Hills by Conn Iggulden

BONUS BOOKS: The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb
A Lion Among Men by Gregory Maguire

The Fabulous Fall Reading Challenge will run until December 31st. Make sure you keep me in the loop and enjoy your reads! Throw some love towards your local independents, pick the books up at Costco, Chapters.Indigo or Amazon, or hit your local library, and then let me know what you think. The lucky winners will win a head start on the next challenge, which is coming this January (Perennial, Indeed, Perennial).

Woo-hoo! The Given Day and Bones of the Hills! Two great books by two of my top 3 favourites.

YAY! I love Fabulous Fall Reading and am excited about a new reading challenge. Thanks Deanna!

I read Goldengrove and I have a feeling it might end up being my #1 book of the year. I will work on a proper review for my blog. I wholeheartedly recommend this novel to anyone who loves to fall in love with a character...one that you won't soon forget.

I'm looking forward to reading The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb...what an amazing author. Too bad it's not out yet.

I looked through the list last night... suffice to say, most of the books are on order at the library, and I am absolutely dying to read Wally Lamb's new book... literally DYING !! LOL

So they are all on hold at the library, and patiently waiting..... Can one wait patiently for books that she wants to read ?? Maybe I will have to just go to the bookstore and buy one or two....

Both "Ritual" and "Goldengrove" are TPs and therefore quite reasonable. You could end up picking one up for under $20.00. And you'd have quite the jump on the other peeps competing!

I had seen Bones of the Hills at Shoppers Drug Mart for $13.00, I'll be buying it next week for sure...I just looked at chapters online and the audio book is listed for Wally Lamb's new one but not the print version so I wasn't able to pre order it :(

Oh my! So many wonderful books. I just may have to read all of them! I think some early Christmas gifts are in order. Oh hubby.......

And before I forget, here's my first entry (I'm reading alongside you guys!), for "Home":

I just finished reading "The Sealed Letter" by Emma Donoghue, and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Is anyone else having problems understanding Anathem?

Francine, in all honesty, I picked up "Anathem" and couldn't get through it. I just didn't fully understand what was going on, so I wasn't enjoying it.

Wish i had known about this fall reading challenge earlier, I love to read and Iam trying to read 100 books for the year (Im at 86 so far!!) I will add some of your selections to the list.

Great selection of books - Anathem was read by a friend of mine who is into the author & he is enjoying it.

I just finished my fifth book on the list, and have three more waiting to be read! I'm enjoying this challenge, Deanna!

Ive finished 7 books all together and loved them all in different degrees. Wally Lamb's I think was my favorite of all of them !
